SENIOR EXECUTIVE WITH 30+ YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
Bilingual senior executive with a background in Actuarial Science leading to various senior management, business development and consulting positions and an extensive network of relationships across all sectors of the Canadian Property and Casualty (P&C) insurance industry.
CONSULTING AND ADVISORY SERVICES
I founded Indatech Consulting Services to provide on-demand actuarial, data management, advisory and business development services to the Canadian insurance industry. Over the years, based on availability, as Principal Consultant, I provided expert services to more than 30 clients, including several large, medium and small insurers across Canada, as well as industry associations and service providers. On a recent full-time consulting engagement, I worked closely with IBM on the GISA (General Insurance Statistical Agency) regulatory reporting project (transitioning from IBC).
Also in recent years, following consultation with several insurers, I founded the concept of the Canadian Commercial Lines Exchange (CCLX) to address the need for more availability of commercial lines data expressed by several insurers, especially small and medium-size insurers. Through this process I also conducted surveys among interested companies to identify trends in rating and loss experience for Commercial Property, Casualty and Auto.
ACTUARIAL & DATA MANAGEMENT
Through various Indatech consulting engagements: Conducted multiple data management projects (quality, reconciliation, integration, preparation and data strategy) and research projects (market reviews and rating analyses) for several Canadian insurers. Provided actuarial support to self-insured groups including regular actuarial reviews with loss development and profitability projections.
Through full-time roles with Service Providers: Worked with several small Canadian Mutual insurers to prepare data for Pricing Optimization initiatives and performed detailed analyses of their current data to assess rating adequacy.
With IBC: Performed actuarial analyses of the IBC database of Canadian insurer data to deliver statistical products and analyses for use by Canadian insurers and regulators including the implementation of new data reporting requirements.
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Various VP, AVP and Director roles in Canadian Business Development for US-based EagleEye Analytics (now part of Guidewire), Verisk, CoreLogic (now Cotality) and Clyde Analytics – providers of analytics, data and software services to the P&C insurance industry – where I worked with insurers across Canada to acquire and implement their services.
Having built a reputation as a trusted advisor to the Canadian insurance industry, I spent 10+ years in various business development roles where I proactively identified and met with prospects across Canada, managed the sales pipeline, contract negotiations and successful implementation of services. I also represented these organizations at trade shows and conferences and contributed to the development of French and English marketing material for the Canadian market.
SENIOR MANAGEMENT AND OPERATIONS
Vice President with Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) – National trade association representing majority of insurers – where I built and managed a Marketing & Client Services Division, developed strategic plans and reported to the Board of Directors made up of CEOs of Canadian insurers.
Vice President with Vehicle Information Centre of Canada (VICC) – National association of P&C private and government insurers – where I worked with members, industry committees and regulators to develop and implement industry vehicle rating (CLEAR) and identification (VINlink) products and led several research projects on vehicle and road safety.
Vice President and GM for Canada for Mitchell – Provider of data and software products to the insurance and collision repair industries – where I managed the Canadian office, budget and staff located across Canada.
Supervisor, Actuarial Division for IBC where I managed a team of Actuarial Analysts working with the industry’s largest database of transactional data to develop statistical products and analyses for Canadian P&C insurers and regulators.
